1.1.17Launching PIIRUS a second time now brings the existing app window forward instead of showing a message. If you chose to run PIIRUS in the background, the window also stays hidden after your PC wakes from sleep. This release includes the blank-window fix.

PIIRUS updated to 1.1.10

PIIRUS is now 1.1.10. Here is everything that changed since our last update, newest first.

1.1.10A new look with a custom title bar, rounded window corners, and cleaner popups, plus a first-run offer to remove suspicious installers from your Downloads folder.

1.1.9On first run PIIRUS closes any remote-access programs that are already running and blocks remote tools (mark one safe in Expert Mode if it is yours), with a new purple app icon and an Expert Mode button in EZ Mode.

1.1.8Blocked-program notices are bigger, stay up longer, and explain why, and PIIRUS replaces the generic Windows restrictions message with its own clearer one.

Coming soon: our own PIIRUS ad blocker

We are building our own ad blocker.

For years we have pointed people at uBlock Origin for browser protection. It is excellent at what it does, but it is not ours, and it is not built to work hand in hand with PIIRUS. So we decided to make one.

The PIIRUS Ad Blocker is coming soon, and it is being built for the same person PIIRUS protects: someone who wants dangerous and annoying things simply gone, without having to become a computer expert.

What to expect:

• Blocks ads, trackers, and malicious pop-ups before they load

• Shuts down the fake pages that claim your PC is infected and demand a phone call

• Pairs with PIIRUS so browser alerts, scare pages, and remote-tool bait are handled together

• Available for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox

• Free for PIIRUS customers

We are testing it now and will share the release here first. Until it is out, keep your current blocker switched on. The browser protection recommendations on our download page are still the best option today.
